Lots of people have pets. And lots of those people take vacations once in a while. And if they’re like me, they put a lot of thought into what to do with their pet while they’re away. It’s a pain in the rear to ask a friend to come over multiple times a day to care for a pet, and quite an imposition. Yes there are pet sitters out there, but some people (like myself) have issues with strangers so won’t even consider them. And most pet sitters are super expensive. So what’s left? Kennels? Unless you or someone you trust has personal experience with the kennel in question, that trust issue is probably kicking in again. And kennels can be expensive too, but they don’t have a minimum number of visits per day like a pet sitter. The only kennel I myself will use is the Walt Disney World kennel, because I am right there on property and see my dog several times a day to feed and walk him. Running out of options? Consider bringing your pet with you. I found a really neat website today, http://www.petswelcome.com. This site lists places that allow guests to bring their pets. It has listings by state, and a way for you to map your trip showing pet friendly places to say along the way. The site also offers a section containing travel tips, and a visitor forum for more specific questions. Check the site out. Your pet would be happy to know you’re thinking about him or her.
