I flew to England when I was in high school, so I do know what it’s like to take a really long flight. I had such a hard time napping and relaxing on that flight. Today was the first time I found out that you can actually get a seat that turns into a bed on some airlines. Tonight we saw a commercial for the international first class and business class bed seat on United. It was the neatest looking airplane seat I’ve ever seen. The seat turns into a fully reclining 6′ 4″ bed with adjustable lumbar support and headrest. The seat is semi private, with short dividers forming from placement of the 15″ flat panel monitor and console. The tray table is designed to hold a laptop. Each seat also features a built in usb port, iPod adapter, reading light with dimmer, noise canceling headphones and power outlet. Has anyone traveled in one of these seats? Are they as nice as they look?

Every summer when we go on vacation to Watkins Glen NY we stay at a KOA. The prices are great and the campground terrific. This year, any paying guest registered at select KOA campgrounds for Friday 05/09/08 will receive a free night of camping for Saturday 05/10/08. Registered guests will also receive an entry into a drawing for prizes. The annual Come Camp and Care With Us weekend is held to help promote and support the KOA Children’s Cancer Camps.
If you’re at all like my parents you comparison shop many aspects of any travel you’re planning. My Dad always hits all the major sites like Orbitz and Hotwire looking for the best prices before he buys. I don’t blame him for wanting the best bargain, I comparison shop most purchases. Today I learned about HotelsCombined.com, an efficient way to shop for the best hotel bargains on one site. After users to put in the time and place they need a hotel for, Hotels Combined searches over 30 of the most popular hotel reservation websites to find you the best deal. The search engine is so good that it won honorable mention in the travel category in SEOmoz’s 2007 awards. Some of the sites it searches are Orbitz, Hotwire, Travelocity, Priceline and Cheap Tickets. What a time saver! I have to tell him about this.
Lots of people have pets. And lots of those people take vacations once in a while. And if they’re like me, they put a lot of thought into what to do with their pet while they’re away. It’s a pain in the rear to ask a friend to come over multiple times a day to care for a pet, and quite an imposition. Yes there are pet sitters out there, but some people (like myself) have issues with strangers so won’t even consider them. And most pet sitters are super expensive. So what’s left? Kennels? Unless you or someone you trust has personal experience with the kennel in question, that trust issue is probably kicking in again. And kennels can be expensive too, but they don’t have a minimum number of visits per day like a pet sitter. The only kennel I myself will use is the Walt Disney World kennel, because I am right there on property and see my dog several times a day to feed and walk him. Running out of options? Consider bringing your pet with you. I found a really neat website today, http://www.petswelcome.com. This site lists places that allow guests to bring their pets. It has listings by state, and a way for you to map your trip showing pet friendly places to say along the way. The site also offers a section containing travel tips, and a visitor forum for more specific questions. Check the site out. Your pet would be happy to know you’re thinking about him or her.
