You don’t have to replace all of your furniture to get a different looking room. You can change the look of a room by replacing or repositioning your television. If you have a tube television one thing you can do is reposition it. Take it off of the piece of furniture it’s on now and put it on a different one. There are many styles of tv stands out there at all sorts of price points. Alternatively, you could upgrade to a flat panel tv, which could be placed on top of furniture or on the wall. There are nice aspects to both, so only you can decide what will work best for you and look best in your home.

I’m getting ready to redo my older son’s room. This got me thinking into the future, for when I redo my younger son’s room. It’s a ways off but I like to get my ideas in place ahead of time. I never considered
classroom furniture before but once I started thinking about it it sort of makes sense. The furniture is durable and I think the cubby units would look cute and make for great storage. It’s look really organized too. I’ll have to check pricing details for when we make the budget.
When it comes to our furniture, most of it was either given to us or bought second hand. As we no longer have a need for pieces we frequently repurpose them. For example. We no longer needed a tv stand that my parents had given us fifteen years ago. I moved it into the dining room, put the spinning photo holder on top of it and in the bottom I have stored all of our crayongs, coloring books and other drawing things. You can repurpose new pieces as well, like the baker’s rack I got on sale. I turned it into a printer table that also holds a lamp, and on the shelves I keep paper, my photo printer and a portable file holder. I’d be interested to hear what you’ve already repurposed or what you’re considering repurposing.

We have a huge dining room table. When both of the leaves are in it can easily seat a dozen people. I cook both Easter and Thanksgiving dinner every year and invite everyone in my family and some additional folks as well. We usually can find enough room at the table but for a couple of years we never had enough chairs. If you’re in the situation I used to be in and need some extra seats, try an office furniture store. You can usually find some inexpensive office chairs. Some even carry folding chairs. No need to recycle seats or pray someone doesn’t make it to dinner anymore!
