Having a child with Down Syndrome with health issues and whose communication skills are limited have caused me to consider what would happen if I weren’t with him and he needed medical attention. My youngest son would not be able to help emergency personnel help him effectively because there’s no way my son would be able to answer some important questions if the need arose.

There are many emergency medical alert products on the market today. They have numerous medical id bracelets, as well as watches, necklaces, charms and sports bands. They even offer several models just for kids. Medical alerts are one of the first things emergency personnel look for when they arrive. Also once at the hospital a bracelet can still help save your life because the hospital personnel will see it and mistakes commonly made when diagnosing and admitting will be avoided. Allergies and regular long term meds can be included on medical identifications, as well as blood type, medical conditions and contact information.

My son asked me this one. I thought I knew the answer but wanted to be sure. Here it is. Deodorants contain a fragrance or scent designed to mask odor. Noone likes body odor or wants to smell like they live in a room full of fitness equipment. Antiperspirants may or may not contain a scent and are designed to stop sweat from forming by blocking the sweat ducts. Both are available in many forms including solid, gel and spray. It is healthy to sweat because toxins come out in sweat. Which one works best for you depends on your lifestyle.

The end of the year is almost here. If you have a flexible spending account make sure you’ve used it up. Some things that may qualify that you might not have thought of include prescriptions and weight loss products including gym memberships and exercise equipment. I paid for an exercise bike through my health insurance this way many years ago. I don’t have one any more. If you were getting a product for home to help you get in shape what would it be?

One of the things that plagues so many people is acne. Treatment has really evolved since I was young. Growing up people would always share the acne treatment they’d used or heard of. One of the first ones was cleaning your face with alcohol. I’ve heard of people using food products like honey, apples and oranges. I’ve heard of others using baking soda or garlic. Not into using food on your face? What about baking soda or toothpaste? Some folks prefer over the counter or prescription treatment? What’s your preference?

Everyone takes pictures on vactaion, and many people take them at and around home. Want to brighten up your pictures? Get people smiling more. A good visit with a good dentist can help you do that. My brother doesn’t smile as much as he could, because his teeth are not in the best shape. One of his teeth broke yesterday and the root is exposed so he’s got to get some work done. His fiancee called his dentist and the dentist shrugged it off and said he’d get him in in a couple of weeks. My brother is now going to get  anew dentist. She checked out his coverage and it seems to be very good so she’s checking how much he can get done. When I saw the before and after pictures on the site of a Plano Cosmetic Dentist I was amazed at the difference – it doesn’t even look like the same person. I hope he can get everything done so we can see him smiling again.

Getting ready to take a summer vacation? Been reading diet pill reviews?
I’ve never gained weight on a vacation. Not a pound, not even on our trips to Disney or on the Disney cruise, when we all ate a lot because the food was so good. We were talking yesterday and I realized why I’ve never gained weight while vacationing. It’s because we keep very busy and are always on the go. It’s the exercise. So eat if you want to eat. Just make sure you do lots of sight seeing and you’ll burn off whatever you eat.

Over the past year the grocery stores and mass retailers in my area have taken numerous cold products and put them behind the pharmacy counter. I mean anyone can walk into certain stores and buy diet pills but they can’t buy cold medicine. I understand they don’t want to make it easy for people concocting things but sometimes people want to buy a product so they can use it as intended.

My brother’s been talking about taking a trip to Cancun. We got to talking about how we’ve always heard that you shouldn’t drink the water in Mexico or you get really sick. We decided a colon cleanse might be preferable to the problems we’ve heard about people having. Curious why they say not to drink the water, we did a little reading. According to a few websites the water table there is close to the surface, therefore contaminated by dumps and runoff. Even one of the Cancun sites said visitors should drink bottled water. Hmmmm. Not exactly a visitor enticing thing, is it.

With summer approaching lots of people are trying harder to lose weight. Some exercise. Some take a diet pill. some count calories. No matter which way you’re doing it, I’ve always found a little help welcome. Some people prefer a little inspiration. There’s a website called WeightView that allows people to upload a current photo and after entering their current weight they’ll receive a computerized image of how they’ll look at their target weight. The site is free to join and offers a member community as well.
