I’ve always been a little clumsy, frequently dropping or spilling food and drinks on my clothing. My brother has teased me about it for years. I call him the stain police. Anyway. When I was in school and then job hunting five years ago I bought myself several pair of medical scrubs. We wore them to class, plus most doctor’s offices in our area require you wear them if you work there. In the end I got a job working at a company that didn’t permit employees to wear scrubs. At first I felt bad, having spent some good money on them. Then I realized that I could still use them. After all, they were very comfortable and held up to stains well. So I kept them and wore them around the house when I was cleaning or dong other chores. I finally retired them not long ago, they’d lasted a long time and were very useful. I’m thinking about getting a new pair, just for when I’m cleaning. What do you wear when you clean house?

I have to say that out of all of the video game systems we have the Wii has become my favorite. It’s definitely the system I have the most fun playing, because I love the interactivity. Going back more than fifteen years, before we had children, the husband and I played video games all of the time. I used to laugh at him because he would always lean when operating the controller. Now with some of the Wii games the player has to move the wii remote controller that way so it doesn’t look so funny. We all get a kick out of the Wii Mii’s, and the way you can change them. When we made ours we gave them some of our own characteristics. This worked out great because it allows my youngest to recognize who’s who and he knows who’s playing and whose turn it is. Hubby has fun with it too. Once I was having a bad day and he changed the face of my Mii to have angry eyes and a beard. It definitely lightened my mood. What really makes the Wii great is that it gets the player up and moving, not just sitting around the house. What do you like best about the Wii?

I don’t know about you but something I don’t like looking for is lamps. We have one table lamp in the bedroom that we got as a hand me down from a friend. We have two in our living room that were a gift. Other than those we have ceiling lighting. It isn’t because I don’t want any more lamps, it’s because I can never find ones that I really like. The ones in the stores are always too small, too big, or too ugly. Or, if I am lucky enough to find one that I like it’s not in my budget. I feel like I’m looking for a magic lamp – one that looks great and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

We have a surround sound system in the living room. There’s a large bass speaker that’s on the floor on one side of the television. The small speaker sits on top of the television. There are four small surround speakers hanging from the ceiling, two on the television wall and two on the opposite wall. Then there are two sets of two speakers that are located on small end tables on each side of the sofa. I think we have too many speakers, I don’t even know what purpose a couple of them have. I also thought the ones on the end tables would look better on speaker stands but hubby said that stands wouldn’t fit on the tables. I’m curious. How many speakers do you have in your living room, or wherever you watch television the most?

We’ve never bought a new mattress for ourselves, because of the price. When we had each of the kids we kept our eyes open for mattress sales and got inexpensive ones for them. One of my son’s has had his for more than ten years now. It’s definitely not the best but it’s still holding up. My other son, we’ve had his mattress for about seven years. His is holding up as well. But for us, nothing. We’ve used my parents hand me down mattresses. And we also had two waterbeds over the years, both of which came with waterbed mattresses. Is there any type of product that you use that you have never bought new?

What color are your walls? My walls are white. We’re pretty traditional about paint. Hubby was a painter for ten years and wanted everything white. Lately I’m tired of white and thinkign about adding a bit of color. I started looking at paint swatches and was surprised at some of the colors I saw. There were your usual colors, but there were also some strange ones, including one shade that was almost the color of gold bullion. I’ve never been a fan of the color gold in furniture, I can’t imagine any circumstance where I’d like it on a wall. What’s the strangest color paint that you’ve ever seen inside a home?

If you drive you probably have car insurance. Or at least you’re probably supposed to have it. Lots of factors have an impact on the price of your insurance besides if you’ve ever had an accident and the type of vehicle it is. Some of the other things considered are your driving record, if you drive to work and how far, as well as where you live and where you keep your car. It didn’t dawn on me at first why the price is effected by where you keep the car but it nmakes sense. Areas with higher rates of crime will have higher insurance rates. the geographical location also tells them if there are lots of children and animals (think deer). Every year or so I call around to see if anyone will give me a cheap car insurance quote. so far the company I’m with is still the cheapest.

We have an awesome kitchen set siilar to the one pictured above that we got from my friend’s daughter. It’s a wood set and the table top is made of square tiles. I always wondered what the best thing to use to clean it was, since I knew I shouldn’t use abrasives. I recently found a possible solution completely by accident. Laundry detergent. I accidentally got some on the table and the table grout lines came out super clean and bright white.

I am not a fan of guns. Too many people that have them make bad decisions. I often wonder if there’s any proof if playing with guns as a child has an outcome on gun ownership as an adult. My Mom bought my brothers toy guns. I’m not a fan of toy guns and don’t buy them for my boys. In our area lots of people play the game airsoft. I’m not a fan. No, as far as I know the kids don’t use a bushnell spotting scope. I just don’t understand the point. Do you think we as a society should tach our children that guns are fun?
Do you need to organize your closets? Do you spend long periods of time trying to find something? I don’t mean spend long periods of time deciding, I mean actually looking. Are your closets so full that you can’t move a hanger one inch? Is the floor covered too? If you’ve answered yes then it’s time to organize your closet. The closet in my youngest son’s room used to be so full of baby clothes that I couldn’t find anything. It took us two days to empty it, clean it and organize it and now it’s not a nightmare to go into it.
So. Start by cleaning your closet. Get rid of things that don’t fit or that you don’t wear. Then put some time and thought into what type of organization system would work best for you. Might it be another bar to hand things on? Might it be some shelves? Might it be something hanging on the door? Do your research on what works and what holds up well. Another factor to consider is installation – who does it and what does it cost? Then do some comparison shopping before you make your purchase. Remember, not everyone needs a closet organization system. There are also ways to organize inexpensively yourself, without purchasing a storage system, but I’m saving that for another post.
