saturday safari st louis missouri

In years past, when Rusty Wallace was still racing e’d not only see him at the race in Watkins Glen but we’d also go to a birthday party in his honor. Rusty is from the St Louis area. The St Louis webcam has a great shot of the Gateway Arch, as well as a pretty building that I don’t know what it is. What makes the webcam interesting is that you never know what you’ll see there. Look in the archives and some of the things that you’ll find weddings, a fair and a seway group.

This week’s Saturday Safari takes me to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina via the Myrtle Beach Cam. My parents are traveling there tomorrow. It’s June so it should be in the mid to high 80s there. It’s much more humid in the South than it is here in New Jersey so I’m hoping the hotel they’re staying at is near the ocean so it’ll be a little cooler. I hope they have good weather and a great time.

While surfing I saw a great webcam shot of the Empire State Building in New York City. It was taken from the Earthcam Midtown Cam. This webcam is on 34th street in the TGI Friday’s. If you watch you can see not only the Empire State Building but also Madison Square Garden and the main Post Office.

With Memorial Day approaching and it being Fleet Week in New York City I thought that would be perfect for Saturday Safari. EarthCam Fleet Week 2009 has a series of webcams highlighting the activities that have been taking place just a little over an hour North from me this week. There are up to twelve webcams in the area. My favorite shot is an aerial view of the Intrepid from camera 12. Fleet Week is an annual event that began in 1984 as New York City’s way of honoring the Navy and Marine Corps. The public is able to view ships, aircraft and demonstrations, as well as go onboard some of the ships.

Here’s something neat for this week’s Saturday Safari - NASA TV. It’s a webcam at the International Space Station! The site mentions video of space walks and shuttle launches. I haven’t seen anything exciting yet but I’m going to keep checking back.
