Wii And Remote

I have to say that out of all of the video game systems we have the Wii has become my favorite. It’s definitely the system I have the most fun playing, because I love the interactivity. Going back more than fifteen years, before we had children, the husband and I played video games all of the time. I used to laugh at him because he would always lean when operating the controller. Now with some of the Wii games the player has to move the wii remote controller that way so it doesn’t look so funny. We all get a kick out of the Wii Mii’s, and the way you can change them. When we made ours we gave them some of our own characteristics. This worked out great because it allows my youngest to recognize who’s who and he knows who’s playing and whose turn it is. Hubby has fun with it too. Once I was having a bad day and he changed the face of my Mii to have angry eyes and a beard. It definitely lightened my mood. What really makes the Wii great is that it gets the player up and moving, not just sitting around the house. What do you like best about the Wii?

Toilet Bowl

A few years ago when we added our second bathroom I discovered that there are toilet bowls of different heights. I had no idea, I always thought that all toilet bowls were the same height, that they only differed in design or efficiency. Some of the toilets on the market now are ADA compliant, for those with physical challenges. There’s about a four inch difference in height between the seat on a regular toilet and a tall, or extended height, toilet. I’m 5’10″ and didn’t think there would be much of a difference so we got the regular one. Now that I’ve used a tall model I wish I’d gotten it, it makes a big difference! Do you have a regular toilet or a tall one?

Table Lamps

I don’t know about you but something I don’t like looking for is lamps. We have one table lamp in the bedroom that we got as a hand me down from a friend. We have two in our living room that were a gift. Other than those we have ceiling lighting. It isn’t because I don’t want any more lamps, it’s because I can never find ones that I really like. The ones in the stores are always too small, too big, or too ugly. Or, if I am lucky enough to find one that I like it’s not in my budget. I feel like I’m looking for a magic lamp – one that looks great and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Wireless Technology

I love it! Wireless is truly the way to go. We redid my home network to be wireless recently. This was so I could get online with the laptop that I just got. I’m really enjoying being able to blog from somewhere other than the desk for a change. Earlier this week I was finally able to get my bluetooth headset for my cell phone to work. I did it because of the recent law change about driving and using a cell phone, but to my surprise discovered that I liked being able to talk without holding the phone. I think moving forward more and more things will take advantage of wireless. Do you connect to anything wirelessly?

Pair Speakers

We have a surround sound system in the living room. There’s a large bass speaker that’s on the floor on one side of the television. The small speaker sits on top of the television. There are four small surround speakers hanging from the ceiling, two on the television wall and two on the opposite wall. Then there are two sets of two speakers that are located on small end tables on each side of the sofa. I think we have too many speakers, I don’t even know what purpose a couple of them have. I also thought the ones on the end tables would look better on speaker stands but hubby said that stands wouldn’t fit on the tables. I’m curious. How many speakers do you have in your living room, or wherever you watch television the most?

Democrat Republican Symbols

This is a topic that has no simple answer, but it’s something that I’ve always wondered. I believe that as years go by the line between the two will continue to blur and eventually disappear. Historically, some of the topics that Democrats and Republicans have differing views on include fiscal policy, health care, insurance, energy, minimum wage, the environment, education, foreign trade, same sex marriage, abortion, stem cell research and war. Yep, clear as mud.

Mattresses

We’ve never bought a new mattress for ourselves, because of the price. When we had each of the kids we kept our eyes open for mattress sales and got inexpensive ones for them. One of my son’s has had his for more than ten years now. It’s definitely not the best but it’s still holding up. My other son, we’ve had his mattress for about seven years. His is holding up as well. But for us, nothing. We’ve used my parents hand me down mattresses. And we also had two waterbeds over the years, both of which came with waterbed mattresses. Is there any type of product that you use that you have never bought new?

franchise

Ever dream about owning a big company, known across the country? When I was much younger I thought that one person owned them all. Since then I’ve learned that a good number of companies with widespread locations are actually franchises. Curious and wanting to learn a little more about franchising, I checked out a site that I came across called Red Hot Franchises. Not only did they have resources for learning about franchise information, but they had lists of available franchises including details on fees and start up costs, as well as a section containing market business opportunities that people may not be aware of. Some of the ways visitors can search are by industry, amount of investment and popularity. When I checked out the most popular I was surprised to see SuperCoups, something I get in my mailbox every couple of weeks. I guess almost anything can be a franchise. Do any of you own or work for a franchise?

paint cans

What color are your walls? My walls are white. We’re pretty traditional about paint. Hubby was a painter for ten years and wanted everything white. Lately I’m tired of white and thinkign about adding a bit of color. I started looking at paint swatches and was surprised at some of the colors I saw. There were your usual colors, but there were also some strange ones, including one shade that was almost the color of gold bullion. I’ve never been a fan of the color gold in furniture, I can’t imagine any circumstance where I’d like it on a wall. What’s the strangest color paint that you’ve ever seen inside a home?

I’ve seen the words thread count used pertaining to bed linens, but today I heard it used in another way and I was left wondering exactly what thread count means. So I came home and did a little research and a lot of surfing and this is what I found. Thread count is the number of threads, both vertical and horizontal, in a square inch. When something has a higher thread count it will be softer, wear better and shrink less. There are factors that influence thread count, such as the ply and thickness of the threads. I’ve never really noticed the thread count on our bed linens, because until last year we were buying hard to find king size waterbed sheets with pockets. Now I’ll have to stick my fingers into the packages when I’m shopping for bed linens to check out the feel. I bet the stores will appreciate that.
